Back to Front at the Museum

Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at the museum? Here's your chance to get a special glimpse at the work our dedicated staff and volunteers do to create the wonderful displays you see.

Tuesday 16th, 10am – 12pm – Our taxidermy volunteers will have a selection of their work on display for you to see up close. Learn how and why we use taxidermy to preserve animal specimens.

Wednesday 17th, 10am – 12pm – Come see our preparator demonstrate the moulding and casting techniques which go into making amazingly detailed replica fossils and artefacts.

Thursday 18th, 10am – 11am – Join our curator for an exclusive behind the scenes tour highlighting scientific perspectives on some very special indigenous collection items.  Bookings are required by calling (07) 4726 0600.

Friday 19th, 10am – 12pm – Our display preparator will be in the Great Gallery again demonstrating his moulding and casting skills.

"Back to Front at the Museum" is part of our celebration of National Science Week, from 13-21 August 2011.
