Conservation Workshops

Learn easy and effective ways to protect your precious keepsakes in a series of conservation workshops at the museum beginning on Sunday 4 August.

The museum's conservator, Sue Valis, will host four two-hour workshops covering subjects essential for anyone wanting to preserve antiques or collectables.

Each of the workshops will address a different topic chosen for its relevance to North Queensland collectors.

  • 11am – 1pm Sunday  4 August: Display methods for paintings, works of art on paper, textiles and objects
  • 11am – 1pm  Sunday 18 August: Protecting your objects from mould and pests (essential in North Queensland!)
  • 11am – 1pm  Sunday 1 September: Best way of storing your collections
  • 11am – 1pm  Sunday 15 September: Preparing and managing your collections for the cyclone season (also essential in North Queensland!!)

Bookings are open to MyMuseum members now for one free place per membership (a $25 fee applies to additional places). Member bookings can be made by email to mymuseum.mtq@qm.qld.gov.au

From 8 July bookings will be opened to the general public at a cost of $25 for each workshop. Bookings can be made on (07) 4726 0600.
