Discover More Talk

We live in an era of bad news about the environment, but very occasionally a species thought to be lost forever is discovered alive. Dr. Glen Chilton of James Cook University will discuss these amazing survival stories in this month's Discover More Talk.

Dr. Chilton is an Adjunct Professor at James Cook University’s School of Marine and Tropical Biology. His research interests range from cultural evolution and birdsong to parasitic insects and extinction. He is the author of several best-selling popular science books, including The Last Place You'd Look for a Wallaby and The Curse of the Labrador Duck. Glen said his talk will focus on the implications and conservation of species rediscovered after being declared extinct.

Held at lunchtime on the second Tuesday of each month, the Museum of Tropical Queensland's Discover More Talk lecture series showcases the work of experts from North Queensland and beyond. With a wide variety of subjects, there's something to catch everyone's interest.
