Planning Your Visit

Timing your visit
The Museum is open 9:30am - 5pm daily.
If you wish to participate in the 'Running out the Gun' activity (suitable for anyone over 8 years of age with closed in shoes), time your visit to coincide with the 11am or 2.30pm daily activity.

Recommended visit duration
The duration of your visit will depend on the particular led program you choose. Otherwise we recommend allowing 1˝ hours to view the galleries.

Maximum group size for led activities
To ensure that the students enjoy the best possible learning experience, we ask that the maximum number of students for a led activity is 30. If you have more than 30 students, they will be split into smaller groups and the program run one after the other for each group.

Lunch/morning or afternoon tea
School groups are welcome to bring lunch or morning or afternoon tea and eat in the 'Waterside Garden' a grassed area near the Museum entrance, overlooking Ross Creek.

Lockers
You can leave your school bags and lunches (but not very large eskies) in lockers near the Museum entrance. Ask a Visitor Services Officer at the front desk or the Learning Activities Officer.

Toilets
Toilets are available in the foyer and on the first floor near the café.

Drinking water
A cold water drink bubbler is provided outside the MindZone Gallery.

Disabled access
The Museum of Tropical Queensland offers lift and ramp access for wheelchairs. Assistance is available on request for other special needs.

Special needs groups
Contact the Learning Activities Officer about tailoring a program to your needs.

On the day of your visit
Make contact with one of the Visitor Services Officer at the front desk. They will check details of your student numbers and handle invoicing/payment details, if required.
