Museum of Tropical Queensland is celebrating Q150 with two fascinating displays from Queensland State Archives.

Queensland Firsts

Queensland Firsts looks back on the past 150 years and identifies 50 history-defining milestones that shaped the State of Queensland including the opening of the first polio treatment clinic that used alternative practices, which opened in Townsville in 1932 to treat children suffering from poliomyelitis and cerebral palsy.

Historians Professor Kay Saunders, Dr Julie Ustinoff and Dr Shirleene Robinson have chosen rarely seen archival records providing an overview of the social, cultural and political history of Queensland.

Our Queensland

This display captures the history of our vibrant state through hundreds of photographs from the archives of The Courier-Mail and The Sunday Mail featuring images of news, lifestyle, sport and feature photographs that will bring back memories for older generations and enlighten younger generations.

From little boys in short pants to musicians, politicians and sport stars, the display takes you back in time to witness many of the people and events that have made our state what it is today.

More than 3,000 historic images of people, places and events can also be viewed online at The Courier Mail's Our Queensland site [new window - external site*].
