The Enchanted Rainforest will transport you into the light and shade of Tropical Queensland’s rainforest environment.
Tropical rainforests are beautiful, complex ecosystems which contain more than half of all living animal and plant species. As more research is done, we learn how very important rainforests are to the welfare of the earth and to all of its living creatures, including all people.
Imagine a huge rainforest tree, enlivened by bird and animal inhabitants hidden throughout.
Streaming light through the canopy emulates the struggle for light in the lower levels of the forest while the sounds of the rainforest surround you.
Lie on the horizontal showcase and be introduced to the understorey of the rainforest. Peer in to find smaller scale inhabitants that require time and attention to find, but are essential to the makeup on this unique environment.
Enter the large space inside the quandong tree and enjoy stories from the dreamtime – all with a rainforest emphasis.
Experience the wonder of our unique flora and fauna and the joy of discovering, learning about and caring for this complex and wonderful natural habitat in the Enchanted Rainforest exhibit.
This exciting new exhibition represents the successful partnership between the Museum of Tropical Queensland and BHP Billiton Yabulu in their joint vision to present this fresh, fun and educational exhibition.
