Museum visitors experience geology exploration from space!
Examine the display of rocks and minerals
See Earth from space
The Rock Rangers Space Lab is the Museum of Tropical Queensland’s newest attraction. The Rock Rangers Space Lab, funded by the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) North Queensland Branch, explores the science of geology from a unique viewpoint – outer space. You can use state of the art technology to discover significant rock and mineral deposits of North Queensland from inside a virtual space station. Inside the Rock Rangers Space Lab, you can search for and identify rocks and mineral deposits using interactive multi-media screens which depict land-satellite images. The exhibition also includes an impressive display of rocks and minerals from the North Queensland region. The Rock Rangers Space Lab is a futuristic display representation, but it illustrates real cutting-edge science that is being completed by North Queensland geologists and the mining industry today. The exhibit adds a new dimension to the quality and range of visitor experiences already available at MTQ, providing an exciting, interactive and science-focused exhibit on geology.
