![]() Your Shipwreck AdventureNow open! Your Shipwreck Adventure is an exciting and interactive maritime archaeology exhibition taking children on an undersea journey, exploring the marine life and history of a Great Barrier Reef shipwreck. The serene, mysterious underwater setting of a shipwreck bathed in dappled blue light forms the basis of the exhibition. An underwater soundscape, together with theatrical lighting from high above, adds life and wonderment. Through the exhibition, the museum endeavours to assist children to learn about maritime archaeology; and important messages relating to the preservation of historic shipwrecks and coral reefs are imparted through stories, play and discovery. Your Shipwreck Adventure has been made possible by grants from The Ian Potter Foundation, The Tim Fairfax Family Foundation and The George Alexander Foundation. Your Shipwreck Adventure - A companion publication![]() A wonderful new children's publication also entitled Your Shipwreck Adventure has also been developed as a companion to the exhibition. The story follows the adventures of Dr Dan, a maritime archaeologist, as he too explores a historic shipwreck on the Great Barrier Reef, discovering the marine life inhabiting the wreck and finding objects that give us an insight into the history of the ship. Your Shipwreck Adventure, authored by Donna Dyson, is published by Queensland Museum. See other Queensland Museum publications. Your Shipwreck Adventure is perfect for children aged 4-8 and will make a lovely addition to any home or school library. The publication can be purchased from the MTQ shop, either in person or by contacting us.
