Planning your visit![]() Getting HereLocated in Townsville's tourism precinct on Flinders Street East, the Museum is adjacent to Reef HQ and the Townsville Aboriginal and Torres St Islander Cultural Centre (TATSICC). The Museum is only a 5 minute walk from the central business district and 10 minutes from the Magnetic Island Ferry Terminal. Gallery InformationWe recommend 2-3 hours to enjoy and explore the Museum's six public galleries. Covered shoes must be worn to participate in the cannon firing activity. The main entrance to the museum is on Flinders Street. The Museum is housed on 3 levels:
ParkingCar parking (both free and paid) is available along Flinders Street East and the Strand, within designated areas. Parking spaces for people with a disability are available on Flinders Street East, in close proximity to the Museum. AccessibilityThe Museum of Tropical Queensland offers lift and ramp access for wheelchairs. Assistance is available on request for other special needs.
